Course Description:
These courses are designed to learn the German language in both written and spoken form. A variety of instructional methods will be used to facilitate the process. All students are expected to spend a minimum of 15 minutes per day reviewing and studying the material.
Goals:
The goals for these courses include successful completion of all of the tests and quizzes achieving a minimum of 80% mastery.
Student Responsibilities:
You must come to class prepared and ready to work. I will allow some class time to start some homework (the amount of time will vary). Bring the following items with you every day: pen or pencil, binder (1½ inch or larger) and textbook (with a book cover). Your participation in class will directly impact your learning and your grade. This includes note taking, group learning activities, reading exercises and classroom discussions.
Grading: (Your grade will be determined as follows)
All assignments, quizzes, tests and projects will receive points. The total you earn divided by the number possible will result in your grade. You should keep track of your own grade at all times.
Class Rules:
All assignments are due at the beginning of the hour. There will be no late assignments accepted. An excused absence will allow the assignment to be turned in upon your return. It is your responsibility to see me regarding work missed due to an absence. You will also receive 2 amnesty passes per quarter. These will allow you to turn in missing assignments for the full points. Amnesty days are not announced in advance.
All students are expected to be polite and courteous to the teacher and to the other students.
Electronic music devices may be used during “work time”. This is usually the last few minutes of the hour. You may not have ear buds in during class or tests.
It is my hope that you will not just pass this course, but become an intricate part of the learning environment. My goal is to encourage growth in German and to assist you in the pursuit of academic excellence! Let’s have a great year!!
